Donald was an extraordinary man who adored wildflowers, his family and other animals. He worked hard, lived life to the full and usually had a huge smile on his face. His vision, laser focus and creativity made him an innovator at a critical time for biodiversity - just as species-rich grasslands were being destroyed by intensive agriculture, Donald’s seed harvester and seed company enabled the conservation community to begin the process of reversing that loss. His legacy is therefore huge, possibly unquantifiable. Graham and I offer our most sincere condolences to his family and are delighted to know Emorsgate Seeds is in such good hands. I have been asked to send condolences on behalf of the Floodplain Meadows Partnership too. The conservation world has lost a fantastically influential champion for its most vulnerable habitat.
